In this weekly DFS article, The Undroppables goes over the top salaried players in both DraftKings and Fanduel to provide his take on who you should play and which players to avoid. Using this article to help construct your rosters, you will better understand who to pay up to win you some money.
Quarterbacks
Paying Up – Geno Smith vs. Arizona Cardinals (Ranked 28th vs. fantasy QBs)
Draftkings – $6,000
Fanduel – $7,000
Last week’s game vs the Bengals was ugly, but Geno threw 41 times. If Geno can throw the ball 25 times against the Cardinals, I expect him to have a great game. The Cardinals’ defense has been struggling mightily against QBs this year.
Avoiding – Jared Goff @ Baltimore Ravens (Ranked 1st vs. fantasy QBs)
Draftkings – $6,400
Fanduel – $7,600
Goff has been playing the best football of his career this year. However, with minimal threat of a run game this week and facing the Ravens defense, which has given up the fewest points against fantasy QBs this year, I want to avoid Goff.
Running Backs
Paying Up – Isiah Pacheco vs. Los Angeles Chargers (Ranked 23rd vs. fantasy RBs)
Draftkings – $6,100
Fanduel – $7,400
Against the Broncos last week, Pacheco had 22 touches (16 runs, six receptions). He has shown that he is an integral part of this offense. This is great value against a Chargers team that has been giving up points to running backs.
Avoiding – Jonathan Taylor vs. Cleveland Browns (Ranked 6th vs. fantasy RBs)
Draftkings – $6,500
Fanduel – $6,500
Taylor is still building up to being the #1 guy in Indy after missing the first four weeks. The Browns’ defense shut down a great 49ers team, particularly CMC. With Minshew under center now, defenses will force the Colts to pass more, limiting Taylor.
Wide Receivers
Paying Up – Davante Adams @ Chicago Bears (Ranked 17th vs. fantasy WRs)
Draftkings – $8,200
Fanduel – $8,000
I am not normally saying to pay up in this situation. Starting QB out. Team struggling. But with Davante publicly saying how unhappy he is and how he needs to be more involved, those things tend to be statements that force teams to put the ball in their best players’ hands (at least for one week). Whichever backup is in for the Raiders should be looking for #17 repeatedly against a bad Bears defense.
Avoiding – Chris Godwin vs. Atlanta Falcons (Ranked 5th vs. fantasy WRs)
Draftkings – $6,900
Fanduel – $6,500
This combines the Falcons’ pass defense being good, Baker Mayfield coming off a bad game, and Mike Evans being the clear #1 target in Tampa Bay. Godwin is still a very good player, but at these prices this week, I’m avoiding him.
