The Flex Factor | Week 8

Figuring out your flex spots can be the difference between winning and losing your weekly matchup. In this weekly series presented by Flex Fantasy, we’ll look at sleeper running backs and wide receivers outside the consensus top 50 who you should be considering in your lineups.

Courtland Sutton

Sutton has been putting up strong production throughout the first part of the season, currently sitting as the WR21 in PPR. With Jeudy in and out of the lineup and rookie Marvin Mims not being a consistent threat, Sutton has taken the opportunity to become the team’s leading receiver with 43 targets, 31 receptions, 351 receiving yards, and 5 TDs. Russell Wilson’s preferred target goes into Week 8 with a high floor and a smash in your flex if you got him on your roster.

Kareem Hunt

Newly signed but not new to the system, Kareem Hunt finds himself with a workhorse opportunity with Jerome Ford suffering a high ankle sprain in last week’s game. Ford is likely going to avoid being put on IR but these types of foot injuries will force even the toughest athletes out of several games. Hunt has put up over 15 PPR points in the last 2 weeks, boosted by 3 TDs. Hunt is tending to an injury of his own but he’s a strong flex play this week if he suits up.

Josh Downs

Downs is another rookie WR in the flex discussion this week after an explosive breakout. Downs has now put up three strong weeks in a row (at least 5 receptions in 4 of past 5 games) and with 20 targets over his last 3. Minshew has taken over for Richardson but that hasn’t slowed the Colts slot receiver who’s seen a consistent slew of targets.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba

It wasn’t a true breakout but we’ll take JSN’s 16.3 PPR point performance in Week 7. The rookie has now seen over 60% of the snaps in two consecutive weeks coming off the team’s bye, indicating that the rookie may now be fully integrated into the system. He’s in the flex discussion this week if you’re navigating an injury-ridden week.
