The Stream Option (Fantasy Football 2020 – Week 6)

The Stream Option is a weekly article where The Undroppables explore the best options at Quarterback, Defense, and Tight End that should be available in most leagues.
*Note: ESPN rostership rates were gathered on 10/14/2020 and are subject to change.

Quarterbacks

Jared Goff – LAR @ SF

Jared Goff has been a common streaming choice for me this season. The weapons that surround him on the offense along with McVay’s play-calling can lead to big weeks for Goff, who is currently the QB10 on the season. In Week 6, he’ll see a favorable matchup against the Niners defense that just let Ryan Fitzpatrick have a massive game last week. While the Niners defense should be good on paper, they have suffered so many injuries this season that they aren’t competing at their expected level. Overall, Goff has strung together some good performances this season and as long as the Rams continue to pass the ball this week, Goff should be a strong option at only 57.3% rostership on ESPN.

Ryan Fitzpatrick – MIA vs NYJ

Fitzpatrick currently sits as the QB7 on the season and has scored over 20 fantasy points in each of his last four games, but is only rostered in 26.5% of ESPN leagues. Fitzpatrick is a strong addition to any team until Tagovailoa takes over, including in week 6 against an average-at-best Jets defense. He should be rostered in most, if not all, leagues.

Tight Ends

Irv Smith Jr. – MIN vs ATL

The Atlanta Falcons currently rank as the second-worst defense in the NFL against fantasy tight ends and have given up solid performances to Greg Olsen, Dalton Schultz, Jimmy Graham, and Robert Tonyan. Furthermore, they could struggle even more this week as a new interim coaching regime takes over the team. Meanwhile, Irv Smith has been quiet this season, but he finally showed his skill last week in Seattle with four catches for 64 yards on five targets. If he can continue to increase his role in the Vikings offense, he clearly has the skill to be a strong fantasy option at the position. Smith is only rostered in 4.5% of ESPN leagues.

Robert Tonyan – GB @ TB

While Tampa Bay has been solid against Tight Ends this season, this choice is more about the player than the matchup. Tonyan’s role in the Packers’ offense has been growing all season, with performances of 10.5, 16, and 33.8 from weeks 2-4. Surprisingly, he is only rostered in 63.3% of ESPN leagues even though he is the TE5 on the season.

Defenses

Giants D/ST – NYG vs. WAS

The Washington offense looked even more pedestrian last week with Kyle Allen and Alex Smith at the wheel than they did with Haskins starting. Meanwhile, the Giants defense has been a surprise in fantasy, currently ranked as the 11th best defense on the season. The Giants Defense is only rostered in 1.7% of ESPN leagues, so they should be available to stream.

Dolphins D/ST – MIA vs. NYJ

I’ll start any defense against a team starting Joe Flacco at quarterback. This obviously includes a Miami defense that has four interceptions in the past three weeks and is currently the 16th best defense in fantasy. The Dolphins are only rostered in 3.1% of ESPN leagues, so they are also likely available in your leagues.
